Pakistan intervened in India’s domestic affairs by summoning India’s Charge D’Affaires over the hijab dispute in Karnataka. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry summoned India’s top envoy in Islamabad to express its concern about the situation. India was accused of religious intolerance, negative stereotyping, and discrimination against Muslims,’ according to Pakistan. Pakistan expressed its “alarm over the anti-hijab campaign launched by the RSS-BJP combination in Karnataka” in a statement. Pakistan also demanded that India protect Muslim women’s safety, security, and well-being.
The summons of India’s top diplomat in Islamabad has elicited no formal response from India.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has declined to set a date for hearing a PIL seeking a transfer of a Hijab matter from the Karnataka High Court to itself.
Furthermore, Karnataka Chief Minister Bommai has urged outsiders not to disrupt the quiet in the state’s schools and institutions. Following the violence between Hijab wearers and saffron scarf wearers on Tuesday, he ordered all schools and colleges to close for three days.
