According to the Union health ministry’s data updated on Tuesday, a total of 1,892 cases of the Omicron form of coronavirus have been found across 23 states and Union Territories, out of which 766 have recovered or moved.
The state of Maharashtra has the most incidences (568), followed by Delhi (382), Kerala (185), Rajasthan (174), Gujarat (152), and Tamil Nadu (121).
Northeast India, which had been immune to the virus for a long time, was unable to escape its clutches. In December, Manipur discovered one case of Omicron in a foreign traveller. Five Omicron cases were discovered in Meghalaya on Tuesday, January 4th, raising fresh concerns in the Northeast.
