The Indian Railways have just opened a sleeping pod hotel at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. ‘New-age facility’ of sleeping pods was described on Twitter by Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw.
Chief Public Relations Officer for Central Railways (CR), Shivaji Sutar, stated that there are 40 pods total, including 30 single, 6 double, and 4 family pods. In addition to complete privacy, mobile charging stations, a locker room, a fire alarm, an intercom, and luxurious restrooms, this elegant air-conditioned lodging is known as the Pod Hotel.
These sleeping pod hotels can be reserved online, using a mobile app, or in person at the front desk. Sutar continued, “It is close to the long-distance concourse waiting room.”
Namah Enterprises was awarded the contract for the creation and management of the sleeping pods. The 131.61 square metres of area have been allotted by the railroad authority so that the visitors to CSMT can remain comfortably. These sleeping pods are 6 feet by 8 feet in size and have modern conveniences.
