Major attack on Amarnath Yatra averted, 3 Hizbul militants killed near J-K’s Anantnag
Three Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces near the annual Amarnath Yatra route in Anantnag area of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, authorities said.
During a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Kokernag region of Anantnag on Thursday, security forces detained a terrorist of the HM organization named as Mohammad Ishfaq Shergojri, a resident of Nowgam Verinag, according to a police spokesman.
“Leads were developed and multiple CASOs were done in various regions of Anantnag during the sustained interrogation of the captured terrorist,” he said.
Three members of the banned terror group HM were killed, and their bodies were recovered from the battleground, he said.
Mohammad Ashraf Khan alias Ashraf Molvi/Mansoor-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rafiq Drangay, and Roshan Zameer Tantray alias Aqib were the slain ultras, according to him.
“All three identified dead terrorists were part of groups involved in multiple terror criminal instances, including attacks on police/security forces and civilian atrocities, according to police data,” he stated.
