The resolution on multilingualism adopted by UN General Assembly on Friday mentioned the Hindi language along with 6 other languages for the first time in the 193-member UN General Assembly, presented by Andorra and co-sponsored by over 80 nations.

The resolution has passed yesterday and urges the UN to continue spreading vital communications and messages in both official and non-official languages including Hindi.
The six official languages were Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish, whereas non-official include Portuguese, Hindi, Kiswahili, Persian, Bangla, and Urdu.
