Meghalaya cabinet approved a new district, Eastern West Khasi Hills
On Friday, the Meghalaya Cabinet approved a proposal to turn Mairang civil sub-division into a full-fledged district.
The district will be known as Eastern West Khasi Hills, according to Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong.
Mairang has been incorporated into the West Khasi Hills district as a sub-division.
“The Cabinet today approved a proposal to convert the Mairang Civil Sub-Division to a full-fledged district. We are pleased to announce that the new district will be known as Eastern West Khasi Hills and will be officially opened on November 10th, 2021 “On Twitter, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma stated.
Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong said that the creation of the new district will ensure that the administration remains closer to the people, as well as that the implementation of various schemes will be more effective, and that the government has also instructed the concerned department to work out all the details, which will be reflected in the state budget next year.
