Meghalaya: Gov reject claims of assurance given to BJP on impartial investigation in Bernad Marak’s case
Satya Pal Malik, the governor of Meghalaya, made it clear on Tuesday that he had not assured Ernest Mawrie, the state’s BJP president, that an impartial investigation into the matter involving BJP vice president Bernard Marak would be launched.
Marak, who is also the Tura-based GHADC MDC, was recently detained when it was discovered that his farmhouse in Edenbari, in the West Garo Hills, was allegedly used as a “brothel” and for other immoral acts.
The State BJP President claimed that Malik had stated that an impartial investigation would be ordered into the situation on Monday after meeting the Governor in person. Additionally, Mawrie had sent the Governor a memo.
A Lakiang, the governor’s deputy secretary, claimed in a statement that the governor had made no commitments to the formation of an impartial investigation into the subject. The Governor just patiently listened to Ernest Mawrie’s complaints during their interaction. Instead, he has asked Mawrie and everyone else involved to work with the state government on the issue,” the deputy governor’s secretary stated in the statement.
