MNS Workers Play ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ on Loudspeakers during 5am ‘Azaan’; Raj Thackeray Booked, Security Beefed up
The security outside Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray’s residence was heightened the night after the Mumbai Police served Thackeray with a notice as a precautionary step after Thackeray’s open call to play Hanuman Chalisa on loudspeakers today. Following Thackeray’s Sunday loudspeaker speech, Aurangabad Police filed a case against him on Tuesday.
The Thane Police Department has issued notices to 1,400 people they believe are “likely to disturb the city’s calm.” Meanwhile, videos have appeared on social media stating that the Hanuman Chalisa was played outside mosques during the 5 a.m. azaan on Wednesday morning, as per Raj Thackeray’s instruction.
Raj Thackeray, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief, asked his supporters on Tuesday to play Hanuman Chalisa while the loudspeakers played Azaan on Wednesday. This has kept the Mumbai and Maharashtra Police Departments on its toes as they try to avoid a law-and-order issue.
