Major shockwave in Meghalaya; Mukul Sangma and 11 others to join TMC today
In Meghalaya, TMC has attained yet another goal. The Congress is facing a severe setback in Meghalaya, with the Trinamool Congress saying on Wednesday that 12 of the main Opposition party’s 17 MLAs are planning to join its ranks.
Assembly elections are scheduled for 2023 in Meghalaya.
This comes less than a week after Mukul Sangma, the former chief minister of Meghalaya, met with AICC leaders in Delhi.
The TMC in the Northeast will benefit from this growth. When contacted by the media, Sangma stated that he will reveal some “big developments and news” on Thursday.
With 21 seats in the 60-member state Assembly, Congress emerged as the single largest party in the 2018 elections. Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party (NPP) won 19 seats, while the BJP took two. However, as part of the BJP-backed North East Democratic Alliance, the NPP was able to form a ruling coalition.
Since Vincent H Pala was chosen as the new Meghalaya unit chairman, Mukul M Sangma, the former Chief Minister, and Congress Legislature Party leader, and Committee chief Vincent H Pala, have had a strained relationship.
Sangma also claimed that he was not consulted about Pala’s selection by the party’s leadership. Sangma’s defection to the Trinamool Congress has been speculated…
Mamata Banerjee’s party was in touch with Congress legislators from the northeastern state as part of its effort to broaden its presence and enter national politics.
