Original Gerber Baby Ann Turner Cook died at 95 after being the face of Gerber Product Company for many decades
Ann Turner Cook, died at the age of 95, whose face became the iconic Gerber logo nearly a century ago. After she passed away the Michigan-founded company released a statement on Instagram over the death of Cook, and send condolences to the family.
“Many years before becoming an extraordinary mother, teacher, and writer, her smile and expressive curiosity captured hearts everywhere and will continue to live on as a symbol for all babies,” the company said.
The sketch was a hit and became the company’s trademark after a neighbor submitted sketching of her to the company in 1928, the face has been used in all packaging and advertising since 1931. In the late 1970s, it was revealed to be Cook, who grew up to be an English teacher in Tampa, Florida, and later a mystery novelist.
