Danish Siddiqui was killed last year July while covering the war in Afghanistan and has won the Pulitzer Prize along with Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave for the images of the Indian covid crisis.
On Monday, a team of Reuters photographers won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for their bravery and dedication in covering the deadly second wave of the coronavirus pandemic that breakthrough across India last year.
Documenting the Rohingya refugee crisis, late Siddiqui and Abidi were also part of the Reuters team, that won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for feature photography.
Siddiqui’s images captured the migrant workers of mass departure after the imposition of the nationwide Covid lockdown and the mass cremations during the second wave of the pandemic in April and May.
