Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Russian rockets strike Donetsk residential building, killing 15

Local authorities in the Donetsk area of Ukraine claimed on Sunday that at least 15 people were killed and another 20 are believed to be trapped after Russian Uragan missiles struck a five-story apartment building.

While Moscow said its forces attacked Ukrainian army hangars housing M777 howitzers, a type of artillery made in the United States, close to Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk area, Ukraine also reported confrontations with Russian forces on fronts in the east and south.

The strike on the apartment complex took place in the town of Chasiv Yar on Saturday night, according to Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko. On Sunday afternoon, the local emergency agency said that 15 individuals had passed away, adding that 24 more could still be trapped beneath the rubble.

“We ran to the basement, there were three impacts, the first somewhere in the kitchen,” said a local resident who gave her name as Ludmila as rescuers rescued a body wrapped in a white sheet and cleaned the debris with a crane and their hands.
