Sacrilege attempt inside Golden Temple Amritsar; attempt to keep the foot on the holy book

On Saturday evening, during the Rehras Sahib recitation, a sacrilege attempt inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple in Amritsar resulted in the death of one individual. The individual attempted to approach the Guru Granth Sahib and take the 'Kirpan' that had been placed in front of the holy Sikh scripture. This is the second incidence of its kind in the last four days.

The individual appeared to be attempting to keep his foot on the Holy Scripture but was apprehended by the individuals there at the appropriate time. By bypassing the barrier erected around Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, he stepped into the 'Rumala Sahib.'
According to reports, the man was shot and murdered right there on the spot by the onlookers. However, there is no official confirmation of the death, but various recordings from Sri Darbar Sahib have surfaced on the internet claiming that the guy was slain on the scene.
