Sai Pallavi booked for her remarks regarding the Kashmiri Pandit exodus
South superstar Sai Pallavi has been booked after Bajrang Dal activists filed a complaint against her remarks regarding the Kashmiri Pandit exodus. The Bajrang Dal also demanded an apology from her. A controversy erupted when the actor, in an interview with YouTube channel, compared Kashmir genocide with cow vigilantism. Exodus from Kashmir and cow vigilantism are not different, she said. The comments sparked a massive social media debate. Although some Hindutva supporters condemned her, there were others who supported her.
Sai Pallavi’s remarks comparing the Kashmir genocide with the lynching of cow smugglers have not gone down well with a section of people in India. Bajrang Dal leaders filed a police complaint with the Sultan Bazar police station in Hyderabad one day after her remarks.
“The Kashmir Files documented the assassination of Kashmiri Pandits during the period. If you consider the issue to be a religious one, there was a recent incident in which a Muslim was assaulted while driving a vehicle carrying cows while people chanted Jai Shri Ram. So, what’s the difference between what happened back then and what’s going on now?,”
On Twitter, Sai’s comments that the Kashmiri Pandit Exodus is a religious conflict got conflicting reactions. When asked about her political beliefs, the performer said she grew up in a non-partisan family and was taught to be a “nice human being.”
