Same-Sex Women Doctor’s Got Engaged in Maharashtra

Surbhi Mitra and Paromita Mukherjee, two female physicians, were engaged in a private ceremony in Maharashtra’s Nagpur last week after their photos went popular on social media. Their engagement was dubbed a “commitment ring ceremony” by the same-sex couple. It was a grand occasion.

Surbhi and Paromita met in Kolkata at a convention. Paromita attended an event where Surbhi was one of the speakers.

At the conference, Paromita stated her readiness to speak with Surbhi. Surbhi, on the other hand, had to return to Nagpur, making communication difficult. That’s when she told Paromita about her Instagram account.

For Paromita, it wasn’t love at first sight. “It was just an infatuation”. And then ultimately love started growing between the two lady physicians.

“I suggested to her that we go to the beach with our friends. I asked if I could propose to her there in front of everyone, would she reject me? Paromita replied, ‘Why would I do that?”

As a result, the proposal that was supposed to take place on a beach in Goa or Mumbai turned into a grand commitment ceremony,” she added.

The couple plans to wed in Goa soon, and the ceremony will be named “Civil Union” just like the ring ceremony.

Although same-sex marriages are very rare not only in India but worldwide as well. However, such love stories prove that love is blind and love is in the air.
