SSC Scam: ‘Everyone in the party was aware of the money collected’ claims Partha Chatterjee

Partha Chatterjee, a suspended Trinamool Congress leader and former minister of the West Bengal Cabinet, reportedly admitted to investigators that everyone in the party, including the top leadership, was aware of the money collected from ineligible candidates in order to secure them jobs as teachers. An investigator claims that after losing his ministerial positions and being expelled from the party, Partha Chatterjee has resumed speaking.

He says that all he was doing was the custodian. Neither did he accept any payment from candidates nor did he ever ask for any. He was obeying directions because of a party decree. He was required to certify paperwork that had been created by others. Also gathered and sent to him was money that was also collected by others. The money needed to be kept in a secure location, per his instructions. Later, thousands of crores were taken away for “party” usage. Some of the money was seized, but not all of it. This is all he has so far disclosed, an official said.

Partha Chatterjee now asserts “that the party made money through peddling positions in other areas as well. Before the Trinamool Congress took over as the ruling party in West Bengal, this culture existed. It is said that people paid to get work in the railway. He also made reference to a certain Majerhat office where these agreements were made. According to Partha Chatterjee, the delay in the party’s decision on his destiny was caused by other leaders who were busy cleaning their homes. He was left to fend for himself when this was finished”, another ED officer stated.
