The Assam government would invest Rs 300 crore to upgrade the Assam Medical College's facilities (AMC). According to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the State government is eager to assist Assam Medical College in becoming a cutting-edge research facility capable of addressing the ailments of the modern day.

Sarma stated, "This premier institute has to develop itself into a state-of-the-art medical institute with enough thrust on research to cope with essential ailments," in a speech during the platinum jubilee celebrations of AMC in Dibrugarh. He also asked AMC to work with the State government's and IIT Guwahati's collaboration on cutting edge medical research. 

Sarma added that the State government will provide Rs. 300 crore to AMC for the construction of teachers' quarters and student hostels, paying humbling respect to Gopinath Bordoloi and British philanthropist Dr. John Berry White for their contributions to the establishment of AMC. He praised the AMC for upholding its rich tradition of medical education and care and urged the college administration to start the expansion and development of the institution in line with its environmentally friendly environment. He asserted that 75 years is a significant amount of time and that over this time, AMC has produced numerous physicians who are today thought to be leaders in their respective specialties. 

In this case, he gave the graduates his congratulations. He individually thanked Kamakhya Prasad Chakraborty, a member of the 1947 graduating class, who was present at the Platinum Jubilee ceremony. Furthermore, he requested the vice chancellor of Srimanta Sankardeva University of Health Sciences to establish the John Berry White Award, which would honour the state's top MBBS graduate with a monetary prize of Rs. 5 lakh. Sarma claimed that since its founding, AMC has worked tirelessly to benefit humanity. He additionally unveiled a special Platinum Jubilee postal stamp on this occasion. The nine Advanced Life Support Ambulances provided by the ONGC as part of its CSR initiatives were also flagged off by the Chief Minister. 

Nine hospitals and medical colleges in the state will each receive one of these nine ambulances.

Sarma congratulated the AMC fraternity and acknowledged the devoted contribution done by them throughout the COVID 19 pandemic. He said that countless lives were spared as a result of its unwavering dedication. The Chief Minister added that the state government is dedicated to offering everyone in the state a cutting-edge, easily accessible, and cost-effective health care delivery system. As a result, the state government agreed to add 24 more medical colleges to the state.
