1 dead as tree falls on autorickshaw in Assam’s Karimganj amid heavy rain
One person was killed and two others were injured when a tree fell on an auto-rickshaw in Assam’s Karimganj during heavy rain. On Wednesday, the incident occurred near the Karimganj fire station.
The deceased person was identified as Azahar Uddin, and he was the autorickshaw driver, according to police. The injured passengers in the car were sent to the hospital right away. In addition to other regions of the state, the Karimganj district has been flooded.
Karimganj’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Gitartha Dev Sarma, said, “A tree fell on an auto-rickshaw near the Karimganj fire station, injuring three people, including the driver. We took them to the hospital right away, but the autorickshaw driver died there as well.”
On the other hand a landslide in Guwahati killed four persons on Tuesday.
After the flood waters flooded their homes, many individuals in the neighborhood were forced to flee their homes and are now seeking refuge in safer locations. “Flood waters have invaded my house,” one of the Tamulpur residents hit by the natural disaster remarked, “and many villagers are now suffering tremendous challenges.”
In the interest of public safety, the Deputy Commissioner of the Dima Hasao district, who is also the Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), has ordered the closure of all educational institutes in the district from June 15 to June 18. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in several districts of the state until Friday (June 17).
