On Wednesday, the Centre increased the dearness allowance for retirees and government workers by 4%. Anurag Thakur, federal minister, revealed that as a result, the dearness allowance is now up to 38%.
Government employees and pensioners will receive the revised dearness allowance in arrears beginning on July 1. The DA increases are typically implemented by the Centre on January 1 and July 1 but are announced in March and September.
In essence, dearness allowance is a portion of central government employees’ monthly salaries that they get to cover the rise in living expenses brought on by their remuneration.
The Center had boosted the dearness allowance by 3% to 34% in March of this year. Beginning on January 1st of this year, the new DA went into effect. The Odisha government announced a 3% increase in DA for its employees and pensioners on September 19, according to PTI.
According to a press release, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik approved the plan to raise the DA from 31 to 34 percent, beginning January 1, 2022. Benefits will be received by 3.5 lakh pensioners and 4 lakh employees.
