Author Salman Rushdie’s Attacker A 24 Year Old New Jersey’s Hadi Matar
Hadi Matar, a 24-year-old New Jersey native, has been confirmed as the assailant of Salman Rushdie.
As charges would depend on Rushdie’s condition, the New York Police announced in a statement that they have not yet filed any against the assailant. The accused assailant has been placed in custody.
Salman Rushdie was attacked by Hadi Matar shortly after he took the podium to give his address, striking him at least twice—once in the neck and once in the belly, according to the police.
Hadi Matar was permitted entry to the lecture with a pass.
Fairview, which is located directly across the Hudson River from Manhattan, served as his last place of business.
According to the authorities, Matar’s attack’s motivation is still unknown. It is also thought that he acted alone.
According to New York State Police, FBI is assisting with the investigation, which is still in its very early stages. On the location, police discovered a backpack and a few electrical items.
