“Brought Justice…” Obama Praises Biden’s Leadership In Killing Al-Qaeda Leader
Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda, was killed on Tuesday, and former US president Barack Obama expressed his satisfaction in a tweet by saying that the wanted terrorist had “finally been brought to justice.” Obama commended Joe Biden’s leadership and acknowledged the intelligence community’s accomplishments, saying they had “worked for decades for this moment.”
“More than 20 years after 9/11, one of the terrorist attack’s masterminds and Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s replacement as the head of al-Qaeda, has finally been brought to justice.”
It’s a testament to President Biden’s leadership, the intelligence community members who have been preparing for this moment for years, and the counterterrorism experts who were able to kill al-Zawahiri without causing any civilian casualties.
“The news from tonight also demonstrates that eliminating terrorism does not require going to war in Afghanistan. And I hope it brings some measure of peace to the families of the victims of 9/11 and to everyone else who has suffered at the hands of al-Qaeda.”
US president Joe Biden said in his most recent address that Ayman al-Zawahiri, the leader of al-Qaeda, had been killed in a drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan. Biden called it a moment of justice for the families of the 2,977 victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attack. There is much speculation that the US may have employed the finely aimed Hellfire R9X warheadless missile. Al-Zawahri, who was raised in a well-known Egyptian family, began his career as an eye surgeon as a young adult before rising to the top of the terrorist organisation. He succeeded Osama Bin Laden in power.
