Nawab Malik, a Maharashtra minister and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday.
Malik was taken to a government hospital for a medical checkup by ED officers, who are expected to bring him before the special PMLA court.
Officials claimed the 62-year-old Maharashtra minister was being questioned in connection with a money laundering investigation involving the Mumbai underworld, gangster Dawood Ibrahim, and his aides. He arrived at the ED’s Ballard Estate office in south Mumbai at 8 a.m. and has been interrogated since then.
Malik, who was arrested after seven hours of questioning, stated that he would not bow down
“Jhukenge nahi, darenge nahi, expose karenge (we will not bow down, won’t fear, will expose),” Malik said.
He followed up with a tweet that made a similar claim.
