Selling of non-vegetarian food is prohibited during Sawan Somvar by the Rajkot civic authority. In the Rajkot district, the local government has prohibited stores and restaurants from selling any non-vegetarian items for a month in the Sawan Somwar reports from ET. Beginning on July 29th, the Rajkot Municipal Cooperation (RMC) will prohibit the sale of meat, mutton, eggs, fish, and other non-vegetarian foods on the four Mondays i.e, on the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd August, as well as on 19th August’s on the occasion of Janmasthami. The sawan month will begin in Gujarat on July 29th on amavashya, although the sawan month has already started in North India 15 days earlier.
The fifth month of the Hindu calendar is known as Sawan or Shravan Maas, and it is the holiest month for Hindus. Praying to Lord Shiva during this time makes him very pleased because this entire month is devoted to his worship. Many people follow a fast for the whole Sawan Month and offer daily prayers to the Shiva Lingam. To appease Lord Shiva and obtain his blessings, they also hold different pujas and other rituals.
