If Modi ji speaks to Putin, he may think over…; very disappointed with India’s position: Ukraine envoy

Ukraine envoy Igor Polikha today “pleaded” for India’s intervention in the conflict with Russia that started this morning, saying a “strong voice” of India might make Russian President Vladimir Putin “think”.  At the same time, the envoy expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Modi and the country’s position as a “strong global leader”.

Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India “is one of the world’s most influential and well-respected leaders… I’m not sure how many words leaders like Putin will listen to. But, given Modi ji’s status, I’m hopeful that, in the event of his powerful voice, Putin will at least think over “,he added.

However, the Ukraine ambassador ended up stating with a strong words of condemnation for the foreign ministry’s approach, and that they are “very disappointed.”

India is closely following the progress of events, as evidenced by your Ministry of External Affairs’ suggestions and comments. We are quite displeased with our current situation. What does “closely following” mean? A total of 50 persons have now been killed. What will happen if hundreds of thousands of people are killed in this particular circumstance? Will you pay greater attention?” Ukraine’s envoy stated.

Mr Polikha told reporters in New Delhi, “I’m following all of the reports on your ministry’s website and the latest advisory for your citizens in Ukraine.”

He said, “We are expecting a much more favorable attitude from the Indian government in this crisis situation. It is the moment of truth. It is the moment of destiny… We are waiting, pleading for assistance from India.”
