The Income Tax Department raided an assistant of Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav just months before the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The raids took conducted at Rajeev Rai’s home in Mau, where he is the SP’s national secretary.
Rai has stated to the media that he has no criminal history or black money. He also stated that he assisted people and that the authorities did not like it. He went on to say that if you do anything, they will record you, file a FIR, and you will be forced to fight an unnecessary case. Rai further stated that they are of no utility and that the process should be completed.
Meanwhile, the IT department conducted searches in a number of other locations across Uttar Pradesh. Manoj Yadav, the promoter of the RCL Group, and his residence in Manipuri were also searched.
