‘Red Alert’ issued in several parts of Odisha; IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a ‘Red Alert’ on Thursday for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several portions of Odisha due to a cyclonic storm expected to form in the Bay of Bengal around December 3. According to IMD, the probable cyclone may hit the shores of Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh in the morning hours of December 4. The system is currently in a well-defined low-pressure area, and it is expected to strengthen into a Depression during the next few hours.

Meanwhile, on December 3, mild to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected in one or two locations in the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, and Jagatsinghpur.
