‘Stay safe, Don’t travel: Advised Indian Embassy to Indian national in Ukraine

The Indian Embassy in Ukraine has issued a fresh advisory as Russia carries out a military operation in Ukraine triggering a major confrontation between the two sides.

The Indian Embassy in Ukraine on Thursday asked Indians to maintain calm and remain safe wherever they are. ‘The present situation in Ukraine is highly uncertain,’ said the Indian embassy.

The Indian embassy warned that ‘the citizens traveling to Kyiv, including those traveling from the western parts of Kyiv, are advised to return to their respective cities temporarily, especially towards safer places along with the western bordering countries.’

The Embassy urged them to maintain calm and remain safe wherever they are, be it in homes, hostels, accommodations, or in transit. It further advised Indian nationals to not travel to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

Officials in New Delhi said India is looking at ways to assist its nationals, especially the students, in Ukraine.

They said India is closely monitoring the “rapidly changing” situation in Ukraine and how to assist the Indians in that country.

An Air India plane had to land in Kyiv this morning to help bring back the Indians. Since flights in Ukraine were canceled as the country closed its airspace to commercial aircraft.
