Watch: Accused beaten outside Jaipur court! Angry mob attacks Kanhaiya Lal’s killers
Outside a Jaipur court, a sizable crowd attacked the two suspects in the gruesome murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal.
While the two were being taken by police outside the NIA court’s Jaipur premises, an uproarious throng mobbed them.
Two men who claimed to be acting in retaliation for an insult to Islam killed Kanhaiya Lal on Tuesday in the Dhan Mandi neighbourhood of Udaipur city.
The defendants, Riaz Akhtari and Ghouse Mohammad, pretended to be customers when they entered Kanhaiya Lal’s shop, and as he was taking measurements, one of them attacked him with a cleaver. Later, they uploaded the graphic murder’s footage to social media.
One of the accused said in their video tapes that they had beheaded the man and threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the same knife.
The assassination of the tailor in Udaipur, Rajasthan, has caused unrest and intermittent acts of violence, leading the government to forbid mass gatherings throughout the state and to disable mobile internet.
