Yet Another Episode of Attack on minority Labourers in Jaiaw Shillong; Meghalaya
On Monday evening, another episode of attack on non-tribal labourers occurred at Dinam Hall Jaiaw.
On the evening of January 24th, a group of labourers was assaulted by 20-25 miscreants at Dinam Hall in Jaiaw Shillong. The incident occurred only a few days after the Lumdienjiri attack on eight individuals.
The labourers were constructing a tent in the Dinam Hall, it was discovered. When a gang of nearly 25 miscreants barged in and began assaulting them with bamboo and sticks, they were taken aback. Four people were hurt and transported to Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
According to one victim, they were working in Dinam Hall when some lads summoned them, and when they arrived, they assaulted them with sticks and bamboo causing severe injury.
Following the incident in Lumdienjiri, which resulted in the injuries of several non-tribal individuals, the state’s minority populations staged a protest to call for an end to such violence against them.
