BMS to protest outside EPFO offices across India today

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) will stage a protest outside the offices of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) on Thursday, demanding an increase in EPS95 pension from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 per month.

The BMS issued a statement on Monday stating that EPS95 pension has become a major issue in the organized sector, affecting more than 65 lakh pensioners

BMS demands pension should be 50% of last drawn wages for all workers.

“In the Covid-19 days as well, those who worked lifelong only received a partial minimum pension amount of *1,000. This is less than the destitute pension. Therefore, the minimum pension under EPS95 should be raised to ₹5,000 per month from existing ₹1,000 per month”, it stated.

A trade union affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) had stated that there would be benefits to 65 lakh pensioners if the minimum pension was increased.
