General Holiday on 21st Jan As A Part of Golden Jubilee Celebration; Meghalaya

As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations for Meghalaya’s 50th year of statehood, the Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to announce that on January 21, 2022, all State Government Offices, all Revenue, and Magisterial Courts, all Educational Institutions, and those Institutions governed by the N.I. Act in the State of Meghalaya will observe a General Holiday.

In April 1970, Meghalaya was carved out of Assam as an autonomous state, and in January 1972, it was declared a full-fledged state.

Meanwhile, the border conflicts between Assam and Meghalaya, which have been festering for decades, may see some resolution as Chief Ministers from both the states will meet with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday evening. If there is a favorable sign, it will add to the celebration.
