PM to Convene a Meeting Today Amid Rapid Omicron spread
In the wake of an increase in instances of the Omicron form of coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will convene a Council of Ministers meeting on Wednesday. According to reports, the meeting would begin at 4 p.m.
All ministers are scheduled to attend the conference, which will cover a variety of topics including next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
According to the Union health ministry, India has detected 653 cases of the Omicron from across 21 states and union territories (UTs), with 186 people recovering. Maharashtra had the most such occurrences with 167, followed by Delhi with 165, Kerala with 57, Telangana with 55, Gujarat with 49, and Rajasthan with 46.
However, in the aftermath of the new variation, Prime Minister Modi convened a high-level conference last Thursday to assess the pandemic situation, instructing officials to maintain a high degree of vigilance and attention amid the Omicron outbreak.
