Tsunami Warning issued after Magnitude 7.6 earthquake hits Indonesia

Today morning, a 7.6 Richter magnitude earthquake struck 95 kilometres north of Maumere, Indonesia: USGS (USGS)

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that an earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale struck 95 kilometres north of Maumere in Indonesia on Tuesday. Indonesia’s meteorological authority issued a tsunami warning shortly after the quake rocked the country’s East Nusa Tenggara area, according to the Reuters news agency.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, on the other hand, estimated the magnitude at 7.7, placing the earthquake at a depth of 5km.
