The explosion in Nigerian oil leaves more than hundreds of people killed at the illegal site between the southern oil states of Rivers and Imo.
The Incident happen on late Friday, the police found the bodies in nearby bushes and forest badly burnt as well as several burnt vehicles which may belong to those deceased found in the bushes or the workers on the illegal oil refined site and jerry-cans used in scooping stolen crude and petroleum products littered.
“The fire outbreak occurred at an illegal bunkering site and it affected over 100 people who were burnt beyond recognition,” the state commissioner for petroleum resources, Goodluck Opiah, said. The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre said several vehicles that were in a queue to buy illegal fuel were burnt in the explosion, on Saturday. Many women and children also died due to the following incident.
