A woman was found dead in her apartment at Gopinath Nagar in the Kalapahar region here on Monday, amid an upsurge in violence in the city. Meanwhile, police have launched an inquiry into the possibility that the woman, who was discovered dead on Sunday night with her lips taped and hands tied, was murdered.
The woman, identified as Anu Hazarika (60) according to reports, has been living alone in her residence in the Tara Hira complex for the past five years after losing both her husband and son. Hazarika owned the housing complex according to reports.
Her apartment was robbed of cash and valuables. “We have started an investigation. However, we cannot reveal anything at this time. Let us first examine whatever CCTV footage we have,” a police official told media outlets.
